Dr Maulee Arambewela

Dr Maulee Arambewela, MBBS, MD, MRCP is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Endocrinologist attached to the department of Physiology Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

She is the former Secretary of the Sri Lanka Diabetes Federation 2019, the public arm of the Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists.

She is a core group member of the StEP-D team under the Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists coordinating the island-wide distribution of free resources to young patients with diabetes under the Australian “ Life For A Child donation” program.

She is a core group member in establishing the STEP-D (Structured Education Program for type 1 diabetes) in Sri Lanka (a training program to empower patients on carb counting, diet, and exercise, )

She pioneered the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes at National Hospital Sri Lanka.

Dr Maulee is active in the development of a Carb App for people living with diabetes, establishing a multicentre online database for young diabetes in Sri Lanka and establishing the support group and National Foundation for Young people with Diabetes in Sri Lanka. She is the Lead author and Co-Editor – of “Carb counter for people living with diabetes” a trilingual book for patients with diabetes and many other books related to diabetes.

She has several publications to her credit in both national and international peer-reviewed journals.
