Dr Muditha Indumali Weerakkody is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Galle, Sri Lanka since the 15th of February 2017. She obtained her MBBS in 2004 from the faculty of medicine University of Colombo, with second-class upper honours and a distinction in clinical medicine at the final MBBS. She obtained her MD in Medicine in 2010 from the University of Colombo and MRCP(UK) and MRCP(UK) in Diabetes & Endocrinology in 2016. She received her overseas training at the University of Sheffield/Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, UK, and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust, UK. As a consultant endocrinologist, Dr Muditha has held numerous distinguished posts during her carrier. She has been a council member of the Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists since 2016 and was a joint editor of the Sri Lanka Journal of Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2017 and 2018. Dr Muditha has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored several clinical guidelines. Her research interests include thyroid disorders, neuroendocrine tumours, Cushing syndrome and hormonal assays.
She is the current Chairman of the Sri Lanka Diabetes Federation, the public arm of the SLCE.
