Dr Sivatharshya Pathmanathan

Dr Sivathrshya Pathmanathan is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Diabetes and Endocrinology Unit of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka providing excellent service to patients from all over the country. She obtained her primary medical education from the faculty of medicine at, university of Jaffna. She graduated with second-class upper honours in her final MBBS and distinction awards in clinical medicine and paediatrics. She had an illustrious undergraduate carrier with distinctions in biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology and community medicine with several gold medals and awards to her name during the period 1998-2004. In 2010, Dr Pathmanathan obtained her MD in medicine from the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo. Subsequently, she received her specialist MD training as a Clinical Fellow in Endocrinology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Manchester; one of the leading tertiary referral centres for endocrinology in the UK. Since her return to Sri Lanka, Dr Pathmanathan has contributed vastly to the development of the speciality in the country, she has been a joint editor of the Sri Lanka Journal of Diabetes Endocrine and Metabolism since 2019 until now. She was the past secretary of the Sri Lanka Diabetes Federation for 2017/2018. She was a member of the speciality board in endocrinology of the postgraduate institute of medicine from 2018 to 2021 and serves as a trainer and examiner for various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Dr Pathmanthan has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a contributor to several guidelines published by the Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists. She is a co-author of Protocols for Evaluation and Management of Endocrine Disorders, published by the Diabetes and Endocrinology Unit, National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
